Before you pay a deposit

Run this checklist on any Rinjani operator. Including us.

Five things to verify before you pay anyone a deposit. Here are our answers, in writing.

01Are you a licensed national park operator?
Yes, under a licensed Rinjani operator. The full licence number, the issuing authority and an honest note on whose licence it is are published on Avoid Rinjani scams.
02Will the guide I book be the guide I actually meet?
Yes. You'll climb with Pak Wil or one of the guides he climbs with, Aman, Gum or Polong, named for you in advance, never a stranger at the gate.
03What's the porter weight cap, and what do porters earn?
Trek porters carry about 25-30 kg, personal porters up to 20 kg, all under the park's 30 kg limit. Porters are paid above the village daily rate, scaled to the load. No tipping pressure.
04Do you publish the 2026 park fees up front?
Yes. Every park fee is laid out on 2026 pricing & park fees: the IDR 250K/day park entrance fee (included in your trek price), the insurance tiers, and how the deposit works. The trek price comes as an all-in quote on WhatsApp.
05Can I read every Google review, not just the good ones?
Yes. ★ 5.0 from 29 climbers, all of them public. Read on Google Maps →

Honest answers

The things climbers ask us first.

Do I need to be very fit?
Most of our climbers are not mountaineers. If you can hike all day on hilly terrain at home, you can manage the rim routes. The summit attempt is harder (a steep 2 AM start at altitude), but anyone in reasonable cardio shape can do it. Walk a few long days before you fly out and you'll be fine.
What about altitude sickness?
Rinjani tops out at 3,726 m. Serious altitude sickness is rare below 3,000 m, and on the 3-day routes you sleep at the rim the first night, which helps you acclimatize before the summit push. Drink water, walk slow, and tell the guide if you feel unwell. We've turned around safely when we needed to.
When is the best time to climb?
The season runs April to December. The park closes in the wet months, typically January to March. The clearest summit conditions and the best sunrises are usually June to October.
How are porters treated and paid?
Our trek porters carry about 25-30 kg and personal porters up to 20 kg, all under the park's 30 kg limit, with pay scaled to the load. They eat the same kind of hot cooked food we make for guests, sleep in proper tents with rim-rated sleeping bags, and are paid above the village rate. No tipping pressure.
How do I book? Is a deposit required?
WhatsApp Pak Wil with your dates, group size and chosen route. We confirm availability and send the full itinerary and map. A small per-person deposit then secures your park permit (the figure is on the pricing page and confirmed on WhatsApp), and we'll need the first page of each passport. You pay the balance in cash or by transfer the day before.
Can I cancel or change my date?
We'll be straight with you: this is a park rule, not ours. Once an entry permit is booked it cannot be refunded, and it can be rescheduled only once, up to the day before, if quota is open on the new date, so treat your booking as final. A bigger change means a new permit, at the trekker's cost. That's why we confirm a firm date and check availability before you pay any deposit.

  • We check permit availability before you commit to anything.
  • Same-day WhatsApp replies in season, 07:00-21:00 WITA.
  • Pay the balance on arrival, in cash or by transfer.
  • One honest note: the park permit (and the park's premium insurance, if you take it) is tied to your date and can't be refunded, so we lock the date with you first.
